The Governor of Virginia has made two announcements in the past few weeks concerning how everyone can return to life activities now that we seem to be entering post-pandemic conditions. These include removal of masks mandates for all and other restrictions, including distancing and capacity limitations. Therefore, we are excited to announce that most events will be returning to the church beginning May 30.
Beginning with worship service on Sunday, May 30, we will no longer ask that you contact the church to let us know you plan to attend. All capacity and distancing requirements have been lifted and, while we will encourage distancing when necessary, we are able to allow all who would like to attend to do so.
All worshippers who have been fully vaccinated can attend without wearing a mask. Likewise, we ask those who have not been fully vaccinated to continue to do so during events at the church. While we understand that there are many views on the wearing of masks, we ask that everyone come together in a spirit of cooperation and love for others as we worship the one true God.
Also, all outside groups who have called Hopewell UMC home can now return without the capacity limitations that have restricted the use of the church over the past 14 months. Each group will decide how they will gather while keeping the CDC guidelines in full view. Contact the respective group coordinator for more information.
We have resumed worship services at Hopewell United Methodist Church and have a few ways in which you can attend. First, we will continue our online presence via Livestream - see the Livestream section below. We offer in-person worship in the sanctuary. In-person will be subject to several requirements, including masks, proper distancing, and no singing. For those who are not quite ready to come inside, a call-in conference call is available where you can listen in during the Service - call the Church office for more information.
Registration or calling ahead in order to attend is no longer necessary!
Please do not attend in-person worship service if you have any possible signs/symptoms of Covid exposure or know to have been exposed to someone who has tested positive.
We look forward to seeing everyone at Hopewell UMC!
The United Methodist Men’s group is holding a fundraiser to raise funds for maintenance needs around the church, including painting inside the church and repair of the Cub Scout shed. The UMM is now taking orders for whole Smoked Pork Butts or minced BBQ. The Pork Butts will be $25 each and BBQ is $10 a quart and will be available for pickup on July 18. If you would like to place an order, please contact the office by June 30.
